We believe that Acton offers children an outstanding educational experience. That is why, at Acton Academy Port St. Lucie, we have a goal to make our program affordable for anyone, regardless of socioeconomic status.
Private schools and alternative options
The national average private school tuition is estimated to be anywhere from $12,000 to almost $24,000. In Florida, the average is $9,873. According to Public School Review, St. Lucie Public Schools spend $11,203 per student per year, and Florida’s public schools overall spend about $13,576.
At Acton Academy Port St. Lucie, our tuition is $10,000 per child — priced as low as we can afford while still offering unique, awesome experiences for our learners.
Recent Florida legislation
Currently, Florida gives about $8,700 per student to every public school, regardless of whether that student actually attends that school.
With the recent passage of HB 1 (2023), Florida has made it possible for each student’s dedicated funding to follow them to whichever school or program they attend in the form of a scholarship.
This means every family can around $8,000 on their child’s tuition for a private school or learning services, including ours, so families only have to pay as low as $200 per month for our tuition!
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the funding:
Step 1: Apply for state voucher funding
Apply for state voucher funding from either Step Up for Students or AAA Scholarship Foundation. We recommend using Step Up.
We accept the Personalized Education Program (PEP) Scholarship and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA). We do not accept the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO).
If you would like to attend Acton Academy Port St. Lucie and are not eligible for the FES-UA, you will first apply for the FES-EO, but when it asks what program you are interested in attending, you will designate it as a homeschooler.
The amount you are eligible to receive will be based on the student’s grade level and their school district.
Step 2: Apply to Acton Academy
We have a 3-step application process to ensure your family is committed to our learner-driven model.
Step 3: Wait to hear back from the Scholarship Funding Organization
It’s that simple. Apply to Acton, apply for a scholarship, and await the good news.
We want to share the Acton experience with ALL families who have a growth mindset and trust their child to own their educational journey.
We encourage you to consider applying for this funding, designated by the state for your child’s education. We believe that money should not be a barrier to your child’s educational success!
